The Octopus Academy is a Naarm/Melbourne based multidisciplinary graphic design studio. Like our namesake The Octopus, we strive to be flexible, resilient and we enjoy problem solving. We have a passion for continuous learning and play.

We offer our clients a variety of services including branding, identity, publications, promotions, packaging and environmental graphics, as well as digital visualisation of websites and banners and wordpress or square space crafting.

We’ve worked with some amazing clients across a diverse range of sectors including; Community & Social, Educational & Research, Luxury & Leisure, Health & Beauty, Hospitality and Fashion.

As a small studio we offer our clients a flexible, tailored and responsive approach. We build partnerships with our clients in order to understand not only their communication challenges, but their products, services and business aims.

Through experience and consumer knowledge we balance design craft with commercial needs to deliver visually relevant, intelligent solutions. Ensuring the result  is both effective and visually engaging.

Nichole Allder

Graphic Designer

After completing an honours degree in Communication Design at RMIT, Nichole worked in exhibition and museum design for Beattievass, before spending a decade in London working in strategy, store development, fashion, luxury sectors and brand creation.

Moving back to Narrm/Melbourne in 2010, Nichole worked with many agencies and clients, largely in the local and federal government, higher education and research communities.

Passionate about good communication, with a love of learning, Nichole continues to seek out projects that educate and inform through effective design.

Ben Allder

Illustrator / Graphic Designer

Also graduating with an honours degree in Communication Design at RMIT, Ben went on to design and illustrate for trend forecaster The Future Laboratory, Soho House and MTV in London.

Returning to Australia, Ben worked on community based design for academic and local governmental departments. He has implemented numerous streamlined frameworks as part of his background and green belt in Continuous Improvement.

Recently Ben has reinvigorated his passion for illustration with a particular interest in printmaking. He is the owner and creator of screen printed artworks brand Banana on Cat.
